It’s Whatcom READS! season once again. And we are going wild for our 2014 author Cheryl Strayed and her book, Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail. Wild is a powerful, blazingly honest, inspiring memoir: the story of a 1,100 mile solo hike that broke down a young woman reeling from catastrophe–and built her back up again. Here is a short video of Strayed talking about her journey:
As in years past, the Whatcom READS! committee is encouraging everyone in Whatcom County to read and discuss Wild this winter. You can check-out Wild in multiple formats (audiobook, large print, eBook, eAudiobook, pre-loaded audio) from any library in the county. Or you can purchase a copy from Village Books where 10% of each sale of Wild goes to future Whatcom READS! programming.
The Whatcom READS! committee thinks Wild will spark a lot of conversation about hiking, recovery, writing, grief, and the power of survival. To facilitate these discussions, the committee has created a great schedule of Wild-themed programs happening in January and February. Excitingly, Cheryl Strayed herself will be in Bellingham to discuss her work on February 24 and 25. For more information, please see the Whatcom READS! Events Calendar.
Don’t miss out on all the fun! Check-out Wild: From Lost to Found on the Pacific Crest Trail today!
